Organized workouts for the California Winter League continued Friday afternoon as more than 150 players with hopes of signing with professional teams took the field at Palm Springs Stadium.

Players sharpened their skills in front of a host of professional scouts.

“I’ve been at a lot of tryouts of this nature before,” said lead instructor Barry Moss. “But this is some of the best talent I’ve ever seen in my four years here.”

The draft was held Friday evening to determine the rosters for the upcoming season, which begins Saturday, January 19 at 9 a.m. The schedule for Opening Day is as follows:

Washington Bluesox vs Palm Springs Chill – 9 a.m.

Palm Desert Coyotes vs Palm Springs Power – 11:30 p.m.

Coachella Valley Snowbirds vs Canada A’s – 2 p.m. (Broadcast airs on 1010 KXPS AM)

Oregon Lumber Jacks vs British Columbia Bombers – 4:30 p.m.
